Audiobook recommendations?
I'm going on a long roadtrip and I was wondering if any of you have listened to any amazing audiobooks. I like fiction, memoirs, interesting books.
I really enjoyed Carly Fionrina's autobiography on her career at HP, and also Freaknomics. Those are the only audiobooks I've checked out.
Any recommendations?

"Possible Side Effects" by Augusten Burroughs.
They are short stories, read by the author himself that will have you laughing your ASS off, in almost tears. It's hilarious and I highly recommend it! They are his life stories
I got this and listened to it in rush hour on my way to and from work and fell in love.

i've never used audiobooks, but i've heard people adore them, and have even learned languages with programs (before going on a trip for example)

I don't care for audio books. I am a visual person but hubby likes them. He had the DaVinci Code and liked it on audiobook. He listened to it in the car.

I am an audiobooks freak! Try Shalimar the Clown by Salman Rushdie, A Distant Mirror by Barbara Tuchman (all about the 14th century - it's fascinating and hilarious), and American Gods by Neil Gaiman for a start - they are all great.

Oh,please try any of the Janet Evanovich books -the Stephanie Plum series. Always funny.I always have a audio book in my car. If I am going on a trip,I try to get one that lasts the same number of hours or a bit more. There are so many great ones! Also,if you are US,Cracker Barrel has a check-out-audio-book-section & you can turn it in at any other CB.

I read this and it's very, very funny. Try also his "Running With Scissors" book about his highly dysfunctional childhood.
As for audiobooks there are so many to choose from (Amazon.com is great) so you need to decide which genre you like and go for those. I can recommend anything by Garrison Keillor - the Lake Woebegon stories - but his voice is so soporific and the humour and narrative are so laid back and gentle I'd worry about falling asleep at the wheel!
