    Default East of Eden

I am reading this for the first time, and almost finished with it. Wow. Just. Wow. So much wisdom in this book, and written so beautifully. I find myself reading parts of it aloud to my husband.

The movie version with James Dean was only a very tiny part of the book. In the late seventies or early eighties there was a miniseries on TV starring Jane Seymour, Timothy Bottoms, Bruce Boxleitner and a few other familiar names, that dealt with the entire book.
    Great stuff.

I actually liked the movie so much better than the book. I thought the explanations offered by the narrator for why Cathy did the things she did really went against the overall theme of the book, and it started to really get me mad how the woman was evil because some people are just evil, yet the novel was about how people have the chance to choose.
