Dennis Hopper bio due in 2008
Unrestrained’ Dennis Hopper bio due in ’08
‘Out Takes’ to cover actor's Kansas childhood, work on ‘Easy Rider,’ more
The Associated Press
Updated: 1:57 p.m. ET May 8, 2006
NEW YORK - The autobiography of Dennis Hopper, the “Easy Rider” star and Hollywood rebel whose friends and acquaintances have included James Dean, Marlon Brando and Jack Nicholson, is scheduled to come out in 2008.
“This is going to be the most exciting and unrestrained memoir to come out in years,” Michael Pietsch, senior vice president and publisher of Little, Brown and Company, said Monday in a statement.
Hopper’s book is called “Out Takes” and, according to Little, Brown, will cover everything from his childhood in Kansas to his work in “Easy Rider,” “Rebel Without a Cause,” “True Romance” and other films to his impressions of Brando, Dean, Elvis Presley and many others.
“Dennis Hopper is the font of some of the most original and daring work ever to come out of Hollywood, and he has put himself in the path of America’s watershed events — the rebelliousness of the ’60s, the civil rights movement, the explosion of modern art and photography, the glory years of jazz and rock and roll,” Pietsch said.
“He has astonishing stories to tell about all that and much more.”

Re: Dennis Hopper bio due in 2008
He's harmed a lot of people, cheated them out of money, and just generally has garnered a reputation as one of the more selfish, greedy assholes in L.A. But maybe his version will be good reading, even if it's not the whole truth.

He absconded with most of the profits for Easy Rider, ripping off the screenwriter and assorted actors and friends. For one.

Thank you! He also tried to screw the screenwriter out of a credit by
saying that he and the cast "made up 90% of the script in front of
the camera" as they went along. There are still sh!theaded actors
who believe they can improvise an entire film because of this remark.
When this guy languished in the Philippines, he was nothing. I've seen
some of the "functioning alcoholics" out in the tropics and believe me,
they aren't so f%cking glamorous when you see them up close.
Hopper was one of these men; you'd've stayed away from him
if you'd met him in his "Apocalypse Now" phase.
Now he wants you to buy his book? Screw him.

Re: Dennis Hopper bio due in 2008
And these days he's a Bush supporter, justifying it as 'you grow in life'. Sounds like a regression to me but whatever. I was over him a long time ago.

Re: Dennis Hopper bio due in 2008
I tried to watch Easy Rider. I'm probably too young (or too not American?) to appreciate it, I think I fell asleep after 15 minutes

Re: Dennis Hopper bio due in 2008
^^Never seen 'Easy Rider'....not super interested in it either.
And now that I know he is a Bush supporter, well, that changes EVERYTHING.

Re: Dennis Hopper bio due in 2008
I actually liked Easy Rider...although that could be attributed to the drugs...and yes, him being a rabid supporter of Bush makes me queasy. Perhaps not others.

yeah well he ruled in that movie too! my favorite line, which i say a lot for no reason, "Shoot him, Shoot him." he casually says and turns and walks away.
p.s. he lives next door to my Grandma and yeah he's a freak.
nobody rocks an eye patch like him!
