I want to join a book club

1st of all b/c I need to start reading books again and not just articles on yahoo.com or cnn.com

and 2nd of all for socialization

are any of you in them? Where do I find one?

my friend and i have one. there are about 12-14 of us though not all of us always show up. we do a big order from amazon and order the next 4 books we're going to read at a time.
it started with about 4-5 of us wanting to have a book club and then friends of friends heard about it and wanted to join too and it grew.
we're supposed to get together every month or so but really it works out to once about every 6-8 weeks. each time someone offers their house and they can either cook something or potluck and we all contribute. and we always get very drunk.

Have you heard of meetup.com, Alice? You can search for basically any kind of group on there and I've noticed there are a lot of book clubs, or at least there are in my area. You can do a little bit of research within the group before you join to try and figure out ages and group personality too (and many of them say what type of group they are in the description, like the crochet meetup I go to is specifically 30 and under).

I found mine on Meetup.com. That's also where I found my hiking group and a social group.

Mine meets in a pub. It's pretty organized and we're a friendly group. Sometimes we have someone show up for one meeting and never come back but I test drove a few groups too.

It's not like online dating. You already have something to discuss and there's no pressure.
