'Those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.' Ben Franklin
"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross." --Sinclair Lewis
I was all ready to make the excuse that as they were all American authors it was no wonder I did badly but I did OK - I got 6.
A big boy did it and ran away.
Shit - I got 9/10 (I stuffed up No.2) and it was 99% lucky guesswork!!! (The clues are in the text actually). And the only author I have actually read is Tom Wolfe. Go me.
If all the women in this place were laid end to end, I wouldn’t be surprised - Dorothy Parker
I got 5/10, not too bad for someone who isn't a habitual reader. One question I almost got it right but I changed it to someone else the last minute...grrr
If you think it's crazy, you ain't seen a thing. Just wait until we're goin down in flames.
The scary thing is that I've read almost all the writers, so I guess I'm either not reading carefully enough or maybe just too tired.

I got 5/10, and I didn't recognize any of the quotes; I was just guessing
based on style.
And questions 5 and 10 are proof that even great writers can produce
utter idiocy when trying to mimic themselves.
FUNNY STORY ABOUT PICASSO
source:Picasso once found himself discussing art with an American GI who claimed to dislike abstract paintings because they were excessively unrealistic. The artist said nothing and the conversation moved on to other subjects such as the GI's girlfriend - a snapshot of whom he proudly produced. 'My,' Picasso exclaimed, examining the picture, 'is she really that small?'

I got 5. I kept thinking alot of them was Mailer!
I got 7/10. I was trying to base my guesses on style, too.
Keep passing the open windows.
Only four right![]()
7/10...
I just went with gut feeling on most of them, except from the first one- were I had actually read the book. One of my favourites
Mmm... Am I wrong, or did it just get fatter in here?
I take issue with the Orwell quote. I wanted to choose that as the obvious answer, but didn't because Orwell died long before Martha Stewart was ever a household name. I doubt the veracity of that quote.
I missed the Rudyard Kipling one.. 9/10
