Good guesses, RevellingInSane, although Rene was a regular on Boston Legal so that gives at least him 3 series.

Ted Wass?- He was in Soap (1977-1983) and Blossom (1991-1995). He currently directs Two and a Half Men.
Except Soap wasn't a spin-off. Hmmm.

and DS9 is def a spin-off.
Darn, he did great as the voice of Chef in the Little Mermaid, one of the few scenes I totally enjoyed.

I was thinking maybe Tony Danza but I don't think he was in a spin off.

^^If he is ignorant enough to feel this way because of someone's skin color, do you think he is stable enough to consider the beating he could face messing with a guy paid to give and take the pain?
Ooh, and Benson was technically a spin off. The character of Benson is said to have originated on Soap, which I really don't remember.

Wouldn't that rule out SB as he's been in more than two?

Oh, yeah. That's true. Dammit. I thought I had it.

Yeah, Benson did start off on Soap. He was the only black person on the show and he was the family butler. Damn, Soap was a funny show. And so was Benson.

Jerry Seinfeld was on Benson, too. He was on the show for one year. He did cameos and small roles on other shows until he got Seinfeld.
I think Henry Winkler is a good guess, too. Happy Days was a spin-off then Happy Days spun-off(?) into a series starring Winkler.

Ruling out Rene...who I really don't see running around the Playboy Mansion.
I thought maybe someone from The Love Boat, but no one's resume really seems to fit the bill.
Also, I don't see it as the Fonz, either. Based on his resume, his political leanings (pretty much a known liberal Dem, active with charities), his reputation (pretty beloved and respected)...I don't see it. (one more edit: he also donated to Carol Mosely Braun's campaign, so, there's that)
Dying to know who, though.

You know who I think this might be, Michael McKean. He played Lenny on Laverne & Shirley, which was a spin-off of Happy Days, and went on the air in the late 70's and went off the air in the 80's. (According to his bio that was his big break.) And his second TV show was a show called Grand in 1990.
He also did a lot of guest star roles, and he did the movie This is Spinal Tap.

^^But he is married to the woman who portrays Clark Kent's mother on Smallville.
Some more possibilities: David Ogden Stier- Was in MASH, which was a spinoff of the movie of the same name in 1970. In 1999, he was in Love and Money, a short lived series. He has never been married.
Christopher Lloyd- His first series was Taxi. If you read "spin off" as a standalone clue, and not as a clue that his first series was a spinoff, it could mean he spun one of his best known roles into a show, which he did. Back to the Future ran for one season in 1991.

^^Yeah, but I don't think MASH could be considered a situation comedy.
Now the Christopher Lloyd guess is good.

I didn't think MASH was a sitcom either, but guess how it is categorized? That is why I did not even think of it.
