Because as you get older your body starts throwing out multiple eggs every cycle, trying to get the good eggs "used" before they expire, so to speak.

I always thought that the reason twins seem to happen to older women is beacuse they had some help in the fertility department since its not as easy to get pregnant as you age...

That's sometimes the case these days, but long before there were fertility treatments, older mothers were more likely to have twins than younger mothers, especially fraternal twins because more than one egg gets released and fertilized.

I was shocked too, particularly since she answered it yesterday in that post about Affleck. Tons of people must have emailed in disbelief. Plus, I can't help but wonder if they argued about this in front of the press on their way out of a party, making it REALLY public.
