I truly can't see Madonna tolerating any sort of abuse. She's genuinely tough as nails. You can just tell she takes shit from no one. She wears the pants.

I throw this out there as a far fetched guess. Since it doesn't specifically state the couple is married, just that there's a rumored rift in the relationship, I'm going to say it's Charlize Theron and Stewart Townsend. There were rumors that she'd dumped him recently after many years.

From what I've read, I think Madonna is actually quite needy in her personal relationships with men. She clicks best with a man's man like a Sean Penn or a Guy Ritchie who won't put up with too much of her attitude.

I remember reading a few accounts by various men including Vanilla Ice about how she would constantly call him and how 'emotionally needy' she was when they were dating. I even recall one British chap she was involved with before Guy, and how after he broke her heart she called him and put Lourdes on the phone to tell him 'You broke my mommy's heart...'

Not the image she projects in her professional career, but I think that's what's so unusual about this situation. She's probably attracted to men that aren't the least bit afraid or intimitated by her ball-busting style.
