What if the dates are REALLY altered to throw us off?

I think it's Paula Abdul. There was some kind of controversy about her singing, wasn't there?

Ent's blog goes back to 2006.

I think Paula Abdul is a good guess but would that be such a shock to anyone that
she is a fraud as a singer? I remember reports from Paula's first live concerts, she
was A FUCKING MESS!!! She couldn't even lip sync

to me at least it was obvious she was manufactured. It pissed me off because of so many talented singers out there that couldn't catch a break and they pasted this chicks album together because she was a cute cheerleader. *ugh*

when this BI first came out a few people thought Anastacia but I doubt that would be such a huge shocker. Britney or J-Lo sounds about right for me

I can't see anybody paying someone to sing badly, which is what Britney does. Her voice is very weak on her records, always has been.

Im going with you Wingnut on the Twitney or J-Lo both are likely prospects and I will go as far as to say J-Lo as she is such Diva.

I've always thought this was Britney because of what Henry Rollins said - that there was this black lady that came in and sang her tracks and then they'd mix it with Britney's vocal track and do some sort of studio wizardry to blend the two voices. He claimed it was because Britney's voice lacked soul. Not only that, she doesn't sing live. And wasnt' there an incident, when she was having one of her many breakdowns, that she cried about being a fake or a phoney?

I'm going to go with Britney too because in the late90s, early 2000s she was a mega star known for her music and it would be a shocker at that time to find out she didn't do her own singing. Today, not so much and it's coming out bit by bit that she doesn't, like the ban of her lipsyncing in Oz.

But the singer in question didn't become big until around 2000---and Britney was around prior to that. And had a bigger second album than the first..

I don't think its Brit. Or Jlo.

    Maybe Avril Lavigne??

My thought is it has to be someone who is known to have a good voice, a la Beyonce, Christina Aguilera and such. Britney, JLo, Avril don't have the strongest voices, IMO. The original post does state that "S" even helped out at "live" performances, so it's conceivable that when whoever MV is sang live, she sounded good because "S" was there helping her...

To borrow a phrase from Ted C, MV ain't:

    Mandy Moore
    Pink
    Norah Jones
    Beyonce
    From today.
