Crazy Days and Nights
So this very A List Actor was shooting in the middle of nowhere. OK, I guess it wasn't the absolute middle of nowhere because there was a strip club with a very catchy name. The strip club was the only entertainment in town and our actor did his very best to make sure every dancer had enough to live on for a year or more. He also made sure the bouncers had enough for a year also because they were the ones who supplied him with his vast quantities of coke for the entire shoot. Well it's a depressing movie so you might as well do something fun.

I hate to say it, but George Clooney is shooting in the Carolinas. I really don't think he's a cokehead though.

Some actors who were in James Ulmer's A-list from 2006:

Russell Crowe filmed "3:10 to Yuma" at various locations in New Mexico, but I don't know how depressing a movie it is.

Jim Carrey filmed "The Number 23" in Cocoa Beach, Florida (I have no idea if it's in the middle of nowhere - I'm in Canada).

Jack Nicholson filmed "The Bucket List", which is a road-trip movie about two cancer patients so presumably it's depressing and was filmed in the middle of nowhere at some point.

Edited to add: I tried looking up names of strip clubs in the Santa Fe area (since I'd be happy to have this one be Russell Crowe), but of course ended up with some very...ummmm...inappropriate pictures on my office computer screen. So I'd better wait until I'm at home.

Jamie Foxx was here in AZ filming The Kingdom last year which is supposed to be pretty depressing. I don't know if I would consider this the middle of nowhere but someone else might.

ADDENDUM 05/15/07:
So a little help with yesterday's item may be in order. How about recently filmed, but not out yet. How about our A list actor was not alone. How about he was joined by another brooding A list actor who happens to be married. No word on whether the married actor partook of the drugs but certainly did partake in the strip club fun.

Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Ruffallo have this movie called 'Reservation Road' comming out later this year. Now, I can't be really sure where they shooted it ..but wasn't LA, or NYC, or anything like that. I need to think a bit.

I immediatly thought of them, Mark is married and the movie is pretty sad and intense, apparently. But I don't picture ( and don't want to ) Joaquin doing drugs, still, who knows.

I love Joaquin almost more than any other actor out there, but, dude, if anyone is doing drugs in Hollywood, it is him. Especially being an actor in Hollywood born with a cleft palate whose brother died before his time....shit, it sounds like a story line from One Life to Live.

They shot it in Connecticut.

I love the Phoenix family but I don't know if I would class Joaquin as 'very A-List'. To me, the 'very' implies someone who is constantly in the spotlight?
