This week's blind item is so depressing, you may want to shield your eyes. It concerns a comedy series that enjoys a cult following, tons of buzz and heaps of critical praise. Unfortunately, the laffer in question lacks support where it counts the most: at the very network that airs it. You see, an influential suit at the net thinks the show is about as funny as a root canal, and is flummoxed by its appeal. He/she proved this by passing the laffer over for a major promotion earlier this season — a sleight that left members of the media (yours truly included) scratching their heads. Basically, said big shot would be more than happy to permanently clear it from the sked, and the program's modest ratings may be just the excuse he/she needs. There's just one problem: Because the knee-slapper isn't perceived as a "bubble show," there are no fan campaigns being organized to help save it. In other words, there's a very real chance this endangered series could be put out to pasture in May with nary a postcard mailed or petition signed. And I can't think of anything less funny than that. So, any guesses? I hate to say it, but this show's very future probably depends on you figuring it out.

Scrubs I could deal with, they take off The Office, and I will be done with that channel forever. What idiots they would be to do that!

I haven't read or heard a lot of buzz about Scrubs or Office. I did actually read in Variety that Scrubs might actually just switch nights.

I was thinking "Dirt" since it has been getting a ton of buzz lately, and actual dirt could be depressing and you would want to shield your eyes from it. I just don't know if it is a comedy???

But isn't the US version of the Office in it's third or fourth season? Honestly, I don't see what the fuss is about if it is axed. The original (and best!) version of the Office had a clear storyline that only went for 2 seasons and would not have been continuously funny if it had kept going.

I also don't think its The Office...I'm a pretty big fan and keep up with it. Season 4 has already been renewed, and many cast members have mentioned that they will be on the show for a long time, and all have long contracts.

My Name is Earl, perhaps? One site that popped up in google listed it as trending downward (with The Office improving the ratings for the second half of the hour) as of last September; of course, that's relatively old news. I was under the impression that Earl was doing fine. Anyone confirm or deny? Why would this be a blind item anyway? I can see keeping the suit unidentified, but the show itself? Its future hinges on whether or not we guess right?
