    Default Philandering British Actor

    Who could this be?:

So you're a British actor and family man with an excellent degree from the second-best place to get one in England. And you've had the astonishing good fortune to rise from a decade's work of dull costume dramas and ITV actioners to become one of the stars of a hot US series. And your lovely and talented wife has managed to combine a bit part in a Brit soap with an equally bit part in your new hit - how lovely! Except... Why, she asks, are the paparazzi always outside our house - and the house of one of your beautiful, athletic blonde costars? What happens when I'm back in the UK with the kiddies? Why aren't you getting a restraining order against the paps and why won't your agent talk to me? And just who is the "mystery love" your co-star refers to in all of her interviews? Good questions all: I wonder how public the answers are likely to be?

Hugh Laurie (House MD). Got a degree at Cambridge University (2nd 'best' after Oxford although many would disagree) and worked for years in costume dramas/comedies, etc on UK TV. Has wife and 3 kids but I'm not sure if she's appeared in House with him, or even if she's an actress.

His wife isn't an actress though. What about Sean Bean or Clive Owen?

When I started to read this one, I too thought of Hugh. But, there is no blond co-star on the show and I don't think his wife is an actress. And Hugh was pretty famous in the UK for his work on Black Adder (yes it was always in a historical setting but it was a comedy). I don't recall any ITV action shows.

So who could it be ?

Except, Hugh got a third in anthropology, otherwise known as the lowest pass you can get, and his wife doesn't seem to be an actress at all, and certainly not in a British soap, else that'd be all over the soap mags surely?

This one is driving me nuts because I so remember seeing a mention somewhere of an actor whose wife had a bit part on his show but I'm having a complete mental block as to who.

It can't be Naveen Andrews from Lost as he is not married though he does have a daughter and as far as I know, his girlfriend (Barbara Hershey) does not do british soaps. And his degree is not from Cambridge. There was a lot of chit-chat about him and one of the blonds on the show.

I'm changing my mind about Hugh. It says "one of the stars" of a US series. In House he IS the star and I'm pretty sure his wife isn't an actress, let alone appears with him in any show. There's plenty of other actors who went to Cambridge. But some of the details might have been slightly blurred in the blind item to avoid making it too obvious so I guess it's still possible. Either way he's a bastard!

I looked up Mr Echo (Eko?) from Lost - Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. But I can't see that he has a wife and he got a Masters from King's College.

I'm not so sure it's Hugh anymore.

Sean Bean is a good guess. But I can't think of what he's on at the moment.
Ioan Gruffyd (can't be arsed to check how it's spelt) - Hornblower dude. That's very costume drama on ITV. He met his fiance (might be wife now) on the production of 102 Dalmations. I don't think he got a degree though.

    Argh I dunno I'm stuck.

And then I thought of Colin Firth. But his wife is an Italian documentary film director, not a soap actress. This is bugging meeee!!

Jamie Bamber from Battlestar Galactica His co-star is probably Katee Sackhoff (but I doubt it cause she's pregnant as far as I remember) or Tricia Helfer. I've met them both and they're both really gorgeous. Jamie is just...ugh, to die for, when we met him he was so charming and he's goooorgeous. Enough swooning. I bet it's him. Bad man.
I smile because I have no idea what's going on
