James Brown was in the media not that long ago but I think that was for sexual harrassment. And I'm not sure he started in a band.

'The Commodors'? Trying to think of groups that singers left. Philip Bailey was part of EW&F and went solo and I think had one hit (w/Phil Collins).

^^^ It's certainly possible he was in the news, I don't recall it specifically though. Who can keep track of all these guys? Honestly, I didn't think anyone would know who I was talking about. It's been awhile since 'Easy Lover' was on the charts. Showing my age...

^^I still like that song, I heard it the other day actually on our jazz station. I didnt think of it as a jazz song more of an easy listening type song.

James Brown has had a lot of solo hits, that's why I ruled him out. He'd fit the profile otherwise.

I'm not a big R&B fan, but it's fun to try and figure these addiciting things out, so I'm going to throw a guess out. While searching through Google, I found a onehitwonders.com and the same search brought up wikipedia so I was reading through their info on rhythm and blues and something that stuck out was Blackstreet (No Diggity, which is the only thing I've ever heard from them). They are successful as a group but two of the members, Levi Little and David Holister, left for solo careers and I'm not finding too much on either of them. So, if anyone would like to see if any of them dated "super-models" please do. I have so much other stuff I should be doing right now. I'm such an obsessive person over trivial things like this and it will eat at my brain for DAYS!

maybe ralph tresvant? he started out with new edition and only had one big hit when he went solo ("sensitivity"). he doesn't seem violent, and i don't remember hearing of him dating a model.
