I believe the rational response to that would be to say "Bite me".

Jebus what size are whale sperms? If this shampoo comes from the really big whales, are you washing your hair with salmon-sized sperm? I don't think I'd like that...plus, who really wants to smell like fishy spunk? I know I certainly don't.
I smile because I have no idea what's going on

    Awful, those poor whales.

Huge losses with commercial breeds.
And this is why I am so glad to be a vegetarian.

^^^Is there a link between these growth hormones that our livestock supply is given and the onset of early puberty? Hasn't this been proven somewhere?

    I think so.

By the way, I looked all over the place last night to try to find more information about this ingredient. The only evidence I can find is that it actually is spermaceti, which comes from inside the skull of the sperm whale. The reason it makes sense is because spermaceti is very plentiful (I think you can get 300 gallons from a single whale), and then it is taken through a relatively simple chemical process that isolates the chemical that is used in hair products and used to be used in lip gloss/lipstick. The derived chemical is kind of a slick, waxy substance that probably would work really well as a conditioner because it seems to slightly thicken the hair and then harden/volumize as the hair dries. Actual whale s*men wouldn't have that component.

The strange part to me is that I would have thought that the harvesting of sperm whales would be severely restricted and that the promotion of a product like this would be discouraged or even banned.

It's supposed to be banned, IIRC, but when did that stop anyone?
