Not her arm, the back of her neck! It was gross and has faded a lot in spots. Plus it happened a few weeks before prom, had it not gotten infected it would have healed in time, instead she still had gross remnants of the infection AND had to do a quicky alteration on her halter neck prom dress. Thankfully her artist (like any GOOD artist....) does free touching up for life, she just has to find the time to go in there and get it fixed up.

She's a tat addict, she's got the neck tattoo and is in the process of getting a back piece that'll cover her entire back by the time she's done. She designed it herself and it has all these aspects of classic art involved in the design so she really had to do her research for her tat artist to make sure he had the skill to do the design. She managed to find one that studied classical art, went to college for art, etc who does beautiful work.

Absolutely get the artist's opinion, bring in pictures of the designs you like, say which parts you like, ask what will work best, show them a rough copy of what you want the design to look like. They should be able to look at all that stuff and work with you to get a design that you like and that will also tattoo well.

I think I've found my place.. the work done is incredible. It's got everything I want.. some primitivism, tribal, native, minimalism, decorative..

LOL might not be for awhile.. you gotta make an appointment at this place 1 month in advance, then you have a pow-wow with them for a morning, they go away for a month to design your tatt, then you come back..

Wow - sounds like work! At least you know they take it seriously though... it's gunna matter to these guys that they get it just right and it looks good!
When I had my tat done there was a woman there who was having an entire landscape done on her back in stages. It looked incredible but I bet the artist was miffed that hardly anyone would ever see all his hard work - I know I would be.

I dunno, I think that creating a beautiful work of art for a person you know will adore it from the time its finished to the time they die would be enough. Factor in the other people who'd only see it in certain special situations makes it even more intimate.

If you can affect even one person with your creation, it's been worth it.

Wow, those look awesome! I love how they actually look layered, colours shot through with other colours and everything. Linky-poo please? I'd like to get two done eventually as well.

Those are all gorgeous. My friend has the same style covering the shoulder and trailing off the arm. His is red flames (really red) with a black outline.

I'm curious as to when they need touching up. 5 years maybe?

I think it depends on how much wear and tear it goes through.. if it's being exposed to a ton of sun, lots of chlorine from pools, etc etc, it'll fade a lot faster. If you keep sunscreen on it during the summer (and in the winter it's covered anyway) and take care of it, it should last awhile.

good thing about tattoo places is that you get upkeep for life along with it.

Any idea what the cost might be and how long the entire procedure will be?
