I haven't really changed anything. I have always been a saver, and a 25 I have a substantial amount saved. I have no student loans, and my significant other and I can afford our apartment on one income. I've always shopped wisely; I've never been an impulse buyer.

Thanks McJag! I swear growing up in Vegas made me financially savvy. I saw way too many people will unstable incomes blowing their money. Scared me straight.

No cut backs, thankfully we are living well, but I see it all around me, especially at the Day spa and hair salon. Some high end stores have already closed. I see it getting worse, they are closing 6 schools here due to low enrollment, people that cant afford to live here are making changes

In the clothing business the normal pattern during a recession is the very upper end of the market stays strong ( $5000 dresses, $1000 shoes), and the very bottom does well, everyone is looking for a bargain

But the middle- which is the largest segment of the business- gets killed.

I've been using all the stuff that I bought when times were good. I'm a product junkie and used to buy every new thing on the market which meant I had a lot of unused makeup, facial products etc.

So I've been using my stuff up and rediscovering items that I had bought but forgotten.

A friend of mine works for Estee Lauder. She says their business is up 25% this year. Apparantly buying a new lipstick is a cheap feel good fix in bad times.

    ^Yes it is.
Sometimes you just have to treat yourself, and buying lipstick is a great way to do it because it lasts for awhile.

Everything is on sale! My favourite nylons are half off, so I stocked up. $5.00 beats $10.00.

Crest Whitestrips were $20.00 (instead of $38.00). Even my socks were on sale. The key is just to either cut back or stick to buying only the items you need because I saw a bunch of people buying items only because they were on sale.
