I'm getting close to my next pedi and want to go shopping for a good summery color. I like the corals and pinks for summer.

Maybe I missed it... because 30 pages is a lot for nail polish but do any of you guys use the gel polish or no? I'm currently obsessed.

Mel,be careful. The UV light you have to use to dry will cause hands to age and we already get enough hand exposure just driving the car. They suggest a) sunscreen and b) getting gloves with the tips cut off ao your hands are protected. Also can cause hand dryness. The cancer risk is low,low but you do have to take care of your hands & protect. I do agree, gel is great!

I just wore Across The Universe again and it's so gorgeous but man it chips like a motherfucker. I only had 2 coats put on and it started chipping on day 3. I soaked my fingers in acetone to get it off yesterday, so much easier than struggling with acetone on cotton pads.

Nail polish never lasts more than 2-3 days on my hands before it starts chipping. Doesn't matter what brand or if I applied it myself versus a professional manicure. I just do too much with my hands I guess.
I can keep a pedicure for over 3 weeks with no problems though.

Have you tried OPI Chip Skip ? It dries all the oil off of your nail bed which makes the polish stick longer . I have the same problem which is why I paint my nails almost everyday (don't judge ) My pedicure last about two weeks but I normally only make it a week before I change the polish

I just got a mani/pedi this morning... I always get some kind of red on my toes and just a buff on my hands.

I am the same with nail polish on my fingers that I just don't bother anymore, I just get them buffed...they turn out really nice and shiny.

Since this is a nail polish thread I have to share this story of my son.

When he was about 3 I had my toes done... he looks down at my feet and says, "Whats that?", I replied "Red nail polish", he looked up at me and said, "Oh, I thought it was a dead animal." He walks away laughing his little arse off. And yes, now at 14 he still is a little turd!

^This. I'm just not willing to get a gel mani to fix it either. I'd rather have semi healthy nails and a gel would destroy them.

i think they tried that at the salon once.
i don't really mind that my polish doesn't last. and i still love getting manicures because they take care of your hands and cuticles and little skins and all that so even if i have to remove the polish a couple of days later, my hands still look ok. i keep a bottle of OPI passion in my desk drawer and if i have time and i'm jsut at the office, i'll apply some of that in between manicures.

I'm all about the OPI Passion. Another good one for a "clear" pink is Essie's Pink Glove Service.

I picked up Essie's Carry On & Devil's Advocate, in the bottle they look pretty different but on they appear to be the same on the value scale. Right now I'm one of those people with 3 different colors on, I also threw Sally Hansen's Xtreme wear in Grey Area on my pinkie, I should take a photo and start a fucking nail polish blog.

Polish on my hands always chips within 2 days regardless of who does it or what kind of magic they use to apply it. I usually keep a bottle of Petites French Pink with me. It's really cheap, but it stays as well as anything and the bottle is tiny enough to throw in my bag.

I'm concerned they've quit making the brand, though, because I'm having the damndest time finding it anywhere lately.

My usual polish: Essie "Oui Madame". It's a pearly sheer with white and very pale pink tones.

polish tends to chip quick on natural nails, but i can get a week out of light colors with seche vite as topcoat.
