Re: Laser Hair Removal: My Log
Thanks Alice, I'm asking around for a good place to go now that I understand the procedure a little better.

How did you get on with the lasering for veins BC? I had some thread veins round my nose zapped on Saturday, and so far it looks pretty good, although I have a couple of tiny scabs still. It hurt a bit but not too bad, and there was a slight smell of burning flesh that was a bit alarming.

I much prefer the smell of hair burning off my face. I've had some luck, the 2 that I noticed the most are gone, at least for now and it's been a month so I'm thinking they're gone for good. I just checked again and I see an improvement on the side of my nose, I really don't pay much attention to them but I'll be glad if I can get rid of them. Seems like I would see an big improvement at first then they would kinda come back. I've had around 4 treatments but isn't costing me anything as my friend is using me as a guinea pig while she is being trained to use the equipment. So as long as I'm not paying I'll keep trying. She's also started doing the facial hair for me although most of that is gone. I got small burns with vein treatment and it did hurt although the last time it wasn't bad. You can also have them injected (with saline ?) which I have done on my legs and it's made a huge improvement on the looks of my legs. My insurance pays for injections so hey why not.

Re: Laser Hair Removal: My Log
I have a couple of emarassing questions for you and if they are too personal please forgive me.
#1 How far "back" do you go?
#2 Do you get all scrubbed up and "fresh" before going. Man I think I would hate their job! What if there was a dirty, icky chick??

Re: Laser Hair Removal: My Log
I had the whole shebang done about 4 years ago. At that time, the laser was still somewhat new, so I believed them when they said it would get ALL the hairs (no one said anything about blonde ones). I had lip, underarm, bikini and legs done (3 treatments each).
I'm about 60-70% hair free in all of those areas.
NOTE OF CAUTION : DO NOT WAX BEFORE A TREATMENT It prevents the laser from following a hair down to the follicle (if there is no hair there).
I was also told to have it done during the winter for the best results. Your follicles are more active in the winter (seriously, ever notice that when you get goosebumps, you get automatic stubble on your legs, even if you just stepped out of the shower)?
I spent $2800 for my three treatments. For that kind of money, I would say that it wasn't worth it, as I have mostly blonde hair anyway.

Re: Laser Hair Removal: My Log
I need to win the lottery - I'd LOVE to have this done. Hormone issues + unable to take female hormones (got blood clots in my legs last time they tried) means either LOTS of hair or lots of shaving. I don't even care if it slowly comes back, I'd still do it. It's expensive but based on what you guys are saying, not as bad as I thought it would be.
