i just inspected my hair and i am not pleased. i knew i had some flakes i was trying to get rid of, but as i combed through there was more. my hair itself is soft and silky but my scalp is so so dry. i switched to a dandruff shampoo but maybe i shampoo too much. how many times a week is recommended? and i will start conditioning before shampooing too bc thta may help. as for the blow drying, i may have to air dry /=

I'd give the dandruff shampoo a try and/or conditioning the scalp. That's a good sign that the length is still soft and silky though.

(Oh, how I have always wanted silky smooth hair!! )

I only wash my hair twice a week to avoid drying it out, but it's long and I don't really ever style it. Just wear it down, or put it in a ponytail or braid.

My boyfriend has a tendency to get dandruff sometimes and he takes L-Lysine (in the vitamin dept.) along with using dandruff shampoo. He says the Lysine also keeps his skin from getting dry. Good for keeping cold sores at bay too.

It would probably be a good idea to give your hair a break from the blow dryer every now and then. Maybe let it dry naturally on days when you don't care if it's styled or not.

Yeah, twice a week is perfectly fine. Unless you've been getting really dirty.

I did both of these things together last night and the results are AMAZING! I filled one of those pump-up spritzer bottles with olive oil and a little honey, warmed it in a sink of hot water while I showered, then spritzed it on the ends of my hair (I think this gave it a nice distribution and didn't coat the hair too heavily), and it is in WAY better condition today than it's been in a long time. Thanks ladies!

Awesome. I've been doing the conditioner before shampooing and sometimes just the conditioner wash; Houston weather has multiple personalities and my scalp HATES it.
