This happens to me sometimes, usually if my hair tie or clip is too tight.
I always wear it down when I feel the onset of a headache.

I get headaches if I position the ponytail too high up. I usually try to wear them low and a bit loose.

Maybe I should try that.. gosh I wouldn't know where to begin. I just go straight to my stand by and that's it.
Oh,no,no,no. I don't care HOW good your shampoo is -rotate. It makes a real difference in how your hair looks and behaves.

Very true, and it's also a good idea to take breaks from products containing silicones. They coat the hairs to make them sleek, but over time they build up and block much needed moisture.

MsChiff, did you ever find a solution to this problem? Was it your shampoo/conditioner giving you a sensitive scalp? I have very long red hair (past my waist) and I have the same problems. I get a sore scalp and what feels like tension headaches whenever I put my hair up in a ponytail, so I'm really interested in whether you found a "fix" for this.

I'm seriously considering that at the moment, but whenever I mention it people act like I'm insane. The thing is, they aren't the ones who have to deal with it day in and day out. I'd love to be able to put my hair up in a chignon or french pleat, but there's too much of it, and as for curling it for a night out... Ha! At least an hour to get the heated rollers in, and then all I get is a few inches of wave and curl at the end.
