Default Product recommendations for curly hair

anyone? I'm losin' my mind here.

I've been using the generic Sally's brand version of Paul Mitchell's "the cream" and i dig it for an after shower leave-in conditioner/sometime styler. I want something new or even something that makes for a good addition to my regular hair regimine. Hold isn't really important but i want something over the counter (i.e. i'm too poor for salon prices at the moment) that would help to bring some life back into my curls...any suggestions?

I'm also looking for a suggestion or two on some good staightening spray, cream, or lotion for when i flat iron the 'do...i've been using setting lotion but have recently noticed a light flaking. I want something with a light hold that also has some heat protection.

Thanks guys!!

Well, I've tried drugstore brands for years, and I never really found anything that was very good for my curly hair. I currently use Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine, and I love it and it gives me more shine, but it doesn't do much for the curls or the health of my hair.

My hair is much healtier when I use Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrating shampoo and conditioner. It's very rich and makes my curls bouncy and soft.

I'm also fond of Matrix Sleek Look for when I straighten my hair. I've seen it in drug stores, it's in orange bottles. They have a straightening spray called Iron Smoother that adds shine and protects against heat. Good stuff. Matrix has a line of products for curly hair called Curl Life, but I haven't gotten around to trying them.

Garnier Fructis makes some stuff for curly hair, too... maybe check that out. It's pretty cheap, so not much of a loss if it doesn't work for you.

I usually use Loreals curl vive shampoo and conditioner, then follow it up with patene's curl defining scrunching mousse and some sort of frizz reducing gel/cream.

I've tried the shampoo/conditioner from the matrix curl.life line and was not impressed. It did the same as the loreal (and i think they're owned by the same company anyway).
