Smile Trying to find a lipstick shade

I took my children to see The Golden Compass starring Nicole Kidman last night and strange as it might seem, I was totally struck by the lipstick shade she was wearing in the movie. It's a berry colour. Does anyone know of a good lipstick in a similar shade?

There are a zillion lippy colours out there. Your best bet is to visit a dept store Cosmetics Bitch Dept and browse until you find the one you want. But I should warn you it can be very frustrating. I saw the author Patricia Cornwell in a TV interview wearing the PERFECT lip colour but I'm buggered if I can find anything even close.....

I went to the Chanel website, figuring maybe she is wearing Chanel makeup.
There are some similar colors, but don't know if any of them are exactly the one you're looking for.

Sorry, meant to put a picture link in & was distracted. http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/5...nmonkeyye6.jpg

It's like a pinky/grape colour. On screen it actually looks to be a deeper shade than in the pictures that I've seen online.

I find lipstick shopping frustrating because I can never find what I'm after.

I just looked up who worked on the golden compass as a makeup artist. Amanda Levin was Nicole Kidman's and she works for chanel so that narrows it down to a chanel lipstick.

She may have custom blended the shade (just to make it more difficult for you!)

Try asking over at Specktra.Net - The definitive independent MAC Cosmetics authority! Somebody should be able to find a color match. Good luck

It's so fricken frustrating when you are trying to find the exact lipstick shade that you see someone else wearing.

I doubt that you will be able to find that color in a tube in store. Often make up artists will blend a number of different colors/lipsticks to get the desire result. Or they could have layered it over a specific lipliner to get that shade. The following is a great website that offers a breakdown of makeup as use on celebrities in movies/music/TV. Nicole Kidman is not there, but they might update her information later: Beauty Breakdown Contents

I think it also depends on your original lip colour cuz when you apply the lipstick, it will add depth to that you know... Some people have naturally pink, red or pale etc lips. Moreover, other facial features and tones can affect how a particular colour looks on you.

So I think the best thing is to actually try out different lipsticks regardless of brands or what was actually used on Nicole cuz you may not necessarily get the same result.

If you think it's crazy, you ain't seen a thing. Just wait until we're goin down in flames.

I hate having heavily pigmented lips. I have given up on lipstick. I just wear some gloss and call it a day. I will never be able to do a very pale nude lip.

You're lucky then, no one actually has nude lips, and it looks really gross when people where flesh colored lipstick. "Where are my lips?"

I don't think it looks gross at all. I love the 1960s look.

Hmm I'd have to see a photo. We might not be envisioning the same thing.
