    Default Dermabrasion/Micro Peel

Anyone had this? I'm trying to hold back the tide by having a few treatments and the dermabrasion is fine, but I am violently allergic to the micropeel. My face looks like a pizza today with red, weeping blisters and ITCHING like I could scratch my whole face off.

It's not the beautician's fault - anyone can get an allergic reaction and I now know that I can't do this one again - but has anyone else had a similar experience coz the beautician says I am the first client in 15yrs this has happened to and I don't believe her. I am not an 'allergic/sensitive' person at all - this is a first for me too.

AO, that's terrible!! Your poor face.

I've always wanted to try it, but now I'm scared. Thanks a lot!

was this the reason for the hives before?

you can buy the machines and the crystals. so if i get enough friends together

umm i hope you guys know there's difference between micro dermabrasion and dermabrasion.

micro dermabrasion is where they use crystals with an air stream to exfoliate away at the skin

dermabrasion is where they use a spinning crystal coated...drill, that literally grinds away your skin till it's raw. it's like 2-4 week downtime

I had the micro - but look like I had the full dermabrasion. It's the Peel they put on afterwards that's done me in. The beautician put a beautiful spin on it. She said that it's good that my face is blistered and peeling because that's a sign my skin is regenerating!! I have some hydrocortizone cream which is keeping the itching under control (kinda) but I have to leave the house looking like one of Michael Jackson's kids with a purple chiffon scarf over my head. My supportive husband is calling me Freddy Kruger.

I don't mean to scare you but I hope your blisters won't leave permanent scars or discoloration on your face.

I think your beautitian is actually correct in saying that this is good. A friend of mine says the same thing happened to her and at the end of the day, her skin was gorgeous. I'm looking into it as well...too many sins are starting to show up on my face and that means it's time to start erasing them. I might just go for a light peel and see how that works.

Well, 5 days after the micropeel my face is still dry as hell and peeling. I am putting on heavy duty moisturiser which is finally beginning to work, ie, the itching, tight feeling is beginning to abate. I am sure the end result will be fine, but the point is that this kind of procedure should NOT produce this kind of result. I am obviously very allergic to this stuff and now I know I most certainly won't be doing it again. The whole point is that this proceedure should NOT cause this extreme reaction. But it's nobody's fault - I just know what to avoid in future.
