Default Does the make up that says it clears your skin actually work?

I spent a whole bunch of money on the best make up ever today and it says "shine free" and "skin clearing make up". Um, what EXACTLY does that mean? I like that it covers well and it doesn't show like crazy. But will it actually help you if you have imperfect skin?

It's the Maybeline kind. It says "Shine Free, Skin Clearing Makeup". Sorry, I don't know much about makeup. I always had great skin but then some acne came up and I'm dealing with clearing that up AND covering it up in a way that doesn't ruin my skin.

It probably just has salicylic acid in it.

I may be wrong, but I don't really trust that kind of product. I keep make-up and skin treatments separate.
