Video for Dove's Real Beauty Campaign
from Faded Youth
This is a commercial that shows how much women get "created"
for billboards.

I get the message they are sending out, which isn't a bad message so I'm not against it, but I think that commercial is very misleading.
They are taking a normal girl and turning her into a model, basically, but that is not what goes on in the real modeling world. Models are typically beautiful, and they don't need that much work -- thus the reason why they are models. Photographers actually hate having to retouch their models, so models need to be in the best shape possible. Of course, they retouch the hell out of "celebrities" because they aren't models, but the modeling world is completely different.

Yes, but it's showing how much can be done with photoshopping/makeup, which proves the point that models really don't look like the ads-even if they look close to it, they don't look like the final product in real life. It's an extreme example, but really effective. Look at just about any ad out there, the fact they photoshopped it is fairly obvious with close inspection.

Rather brilliant little parody of the Dove ad.

Dove Campaign for Real Beauty
I wasn't sure where to post this... I was tempted to post it in the Beauty & Skincare topic...
Anyways, this isn't exactly outright scary, but it's an interesting short video about makeup and airbrushing which alters the perception of 'real beauty'. I'm sure most of you realise this already XD

Of course, many girls think that the girls on those magazines or advertisements are real, and then put themselves down for it.

Nothing knows beauty like a computer- we're trying to compete with the power of photoshop. The after image looks nothing like the actual girl. And thats the case with celebrity photoshoots; sometimes I see a photo and it doesn't even look like them.
