    Default I have Hives

My face looks like an undercooked pizza!!! Itchy, dry skin with attractive lumps. The pharmacy gave me some anti-histamine tabs and some antiseptic cream and a paper bag to put over my head. It's deffo some kind of allergic reaction, but I can't work out to what. Could it be this effing lo-carb diet?

No sounds like an allerigic reaction. Have had plenty of them, so I know what I am talking about.

No, Michael has smooth, soft porcelaine skin like a PageantHo (and Reina). My skin looks more like Britney's at the moment.

I was on a low-carb diet a while back and never had hives ...

Have you changed makeup or face wash? Laundry soap? Hair products?

I feel for you! I wore a new brand of makeup last Saturday to a party and it broke my face out. After scratching all week, it has finally started to clear up, but I've got several rough patches left from all the scratching.

LOL! You know I was kidding! I used to get hives from fruits like strawberries. I also got "nervous" hives. I don't anymore-but they were on my chest and arms. My mother gets them too.

Zyrtec worked for me when I got hives in the past. Very quickly. Only problem is that it's now considered not on the desired meds list, so high copay. Claritin might work for you.

When I had a really bad allergic reaction to some bugs - flying gnat-like things, that other people had attack them but didn't end up like me - I had to have a steroid shot in each hip. When my daughter was stung by yellow jackets, she also had to have the steroid shots, but hers was bad enough she had to take prednisone pills for a week.

Allergic reactions are not fun, whether hives or what. I'm just glad it wasn't systemic - where you can stop breathing from the reaction.

You didn't say if you were having a histamine reaction. Are you sneezy or itchy anywhere else? Are you very sensitive to smells or chemicals?

No - it's just on my face - and no I've never been allergic to anything specific before. I'm going to the doc.

Stress?? Nah - a sloth has a stressful existence compared to my little bubble of stresslessness LOL. I'm not a 'worrier' by nature anyway, I'm the one talking down the hysterical stewardess in the pilotless 747 carrying 10 nukes when everyone else is hiding in the bunker.

Hmmmm the pharmacist (having recoiled when he saw me and anxious to get me out of his shop where I was making small children scream and adults ask me if I was doing a Freddy Kruger for Halloweeen) thinks it could be some kind of weird virus/infection. I will go and scare the old ladies in the doc's waiting room instead.
