Default Going from Dark Brown to Ash Blonde?

I don't know if anyone here has experience with coloring hair, but I thought I'd ask a question I've been wondering about for a while. My natural hair color is dark brown. I have always wanted to go blonde, just for a while, to see if I like it. Specifically, I want an ash blonde like Taylor Swift's. Would it even be possible to achieve that shade on a natural dark brunette? I worry about it either looking gray or coming out too brassy.

This is the color I like:

    Have a stylist do it.

Stylist stylist stylist. That is way too difficult to attempt on your own.

It's a beautiful and I love her hair color, but I have to ask if you have cool undertones? It's extraordinarily hard to pull off ash blonde if you're not cool toned. Regardless, it's not something you want to DIY, because it can go so wrong lightening your hair that many shades.

It can be tough to go from a dark brown to an ash blonde, due to the underlying pigment in dark brown hair. A colorist has to counter the red and orange by adding green and blue to the color to counteract the warmth.

It can be done, but it's a 'don't try this at home' situation. You need someone that understands color theory.

Do not do it yourself. Ash blonde can have a horrible green tint to it that you'll hate!

I agree you need a stylist. I'm also not sure about the timing. That kind of change will take maintenance and you're about to be very very busy and tired. But if you do it, pics please!

Knowing nothing about hair colour, is it worth it to try highlights first to see if the stylist can get the tone you want before taking the plunge and doing the whole head?

    twitchy is a genius.

and highlights are much less maintenace than all over color. you could always just do a few of those for now.
