Laser Hair Removal: My Log
May 2nd first treatment for lazor hair removal on the bikini area, I got the extended one. 2 free treatments: 1 b/c I was referred to them by a commercial and 1 extra free treatment b/c I bought a $600.00 package. I've been wanting to do this for some time now; I'm all for cosmetic and plastic surgery to make one feel better about themselves and this is the closest I've come to anything like that I've had terrible ingrowns and nasty dark hair against pale skin that is still visible even when I shave so I finally decided that its time to cut the painful waste of money waxing and futile shaving outta my life. If this works out well; i will do my underarms next! And best of all it was not painful at all! It was like plucking and soooooooooooo much less painful than waxing!!! It was almost relaxing; I guess I get kind of comatose when hair is pulled from my body; its the only way to stand it but it wasn't that bad AT ALL and almost relaxing to be spread eagle like that. I would rather do this procedure than waxing or a pap smear any damn day of the week! And I have the extra money b/c I've been saving on gas (since not having my car) and b/c I refinanced my student loans and its permanant so I think its worth it in the long run! I can't wait to try other things now like lazor removal of stretch marks and restalyne injections in my cheeks or lip augmentation; you know just small things like that to start then I don't know...
any similar experiences out there?
if so, does anyone know if you're supposed to tip the RN like you would the lady who waxes you? I don't think so b/c she's more like a doctor than a stylist, but I'm just wondering.

Re: lazor hair removal: my log
Yeah, I want to hear more. I thought laser hair removal was painful cause some guy that did it was work looked like he had just been burned and had like shiny stuff on it. But maybe that was just for one day.

Re: lazor hair removal: my log
I would like to do laser removal for some of my embarrassing facial hair. I spend so much time maintaining my face. Blech. For the nether regions, I'm getting ready to this: http://www.allurebeautysupply.com/MA...p_136-787.html

Re: lazor hair removal: my log
^^^I haven't used it yet. I know a lot of women who swear by it for thier bikini area.
I hear ya about the chin. I pluck my eyebrows and my chin several times a week. I know I get it honestly...now that both my grandmas are older and don't do as much maintenance on themselves, I see the same hairs...only grey.

Re: lazor hair removal: my log
I know tiki it sucks
I have blond hair on my legs and arms, but it's darker in the armpits and bikini. But it's the legs I'd want done

Agreed! I have to admit, it's nice to know I'm not the only one. NONE of my other friends have this problem. Unless they are lying to me.

Re: lazor hair removal: my log
Algernon, your friends lie. Laser hair removal is the greatest invention ever. I've been getting my lip and chin done, had around 7 treatments so far and am almost hair free, I love it. No more waxing and plucking! The treatment doesn't hurt just startles me from the flash of light. I also get laser for the small veins on my nose at a different Drs. which does hurt. Maybe they're using a different machine. One of the treatments is done by a RN so I wouldn't think you would tip. I got a good price for the vein treatment or I wouldn't have it done, but for the hair laser, it's the best money I've ever spent!

Re: Laser Hair Removal: My Log
yeah I just have all these singed stubs and some are stuck beneath the skin which I had to take a needle to and get outta there; but there are thinner hairs coming up, which is what the nurse said would happen and those will go next, then more new hairs will come up and get taken care of and it just adds up to everything being taken away but not in 1 session; it takes a few which i understand but it better not take more than 10 I hope, cause this bitch can't afford that shit, next I wanna do underarms and legs would be nice but that ain't gonna happen though I hate how you can see the folicles below the skin...sucks to have dark body hair

Re: Laser Hair Removal: My Log
Ooh! I've done laser hair removal on my face, chin, and sideburns. Yeah, I'm unfortunately extremely hirsute. Don't even know why exactly, since neither of my parents are as hairy as me, not even my dad...ick, don't get me started...
Anyways, I had about 4 (or 5, I can't remember) treatments and it made SUCH a difference. I was forever plucking my chin since they were the thickest and most unattractive and now I don't have to do that any more! Some of the thinner ones are still there, but the most noticeable ones are gone. I suspect I would've gotten much more dramatic and "complete" results if I'd kept having treatments but unfortunately I moved and haven't been able to find a good laser center in SF with the right kind of laser.
BTW, if you are olive- or darker-skinned like me (I'm mexican), my specialist recommended the ND Yag type laser. Which is what I haven't found in my area yet. I think most lasers are some kind of diode, which is best for caucasian and light skin.
If I could, I'd laser *everything* because I really truly need it, and I'm not even being vain when I say that.
Oh, I forgot to add, the laser treatments on my face also completely cleared up my acne! How come they don't use this as acne treatment? Or do they? I'd do it on a regular basis for that reason alone!
