I'm 5'6 with stocky legs and most of my dresses end just below the knee, but before the calf widens. Of course, if I like the upper half of the dress enough, I accept any hemline.
Notice I didn't say 'How Tall Are You'? showing respect to the shorties like me.
Two questions:
What's your height?
What's your average hemline in a daytime or cocktail dress? Above the knee, on the knee, over the knee?
I'm 5'1" and I wear the hem just above or slightly on the knee.

i'm 5'9. i wear them above the knees about an inch, and thats just because I'm old, otherwise i'd wear them shorter. i have good legs..looks like they are the last thing to go awry on me.
Well, the whore apples sure didn't fall far from the whore tree. Sylkyn
5'7 1/2" . I wear mine daytime brushing the knee, some summer dresses actually tea length. Cooler. Cocktail above the knee. I am 2/3 legs and love my legs, which is only fair since I was shortchanged in the bosom area.

I'm 5'0. I only wear hippy style ankle length skirts/dresses because I have ugly Katie Holmes cankles.
But being short (and having nice legs), I wouldn't wear the dress at a length that cuts your leg in half. So I'd go for knee length or shorter.
Alicia Silverstone: "I think that the film Clueless was very deep. I think it was deep in the way that it was very light. I think lightness has to come from a very deep place if it's true lightness."
I'm 5'2" and I really like long hippy dresses and skirts. They probably make me look shorter, but I can't help it, long dresses are my favorite.
I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them. - George W. Bush
5' 10". I either like them an inch or two above my knees or tea-length, but I'll wear any length if I like the general cut and fabric well enough.
(Actually, I don't wear dresses or skirts very often.)
I'm 1.79m, which is a bit more than 5'8'' I think (not sure, never been good at conversions)
I like maxi dresses, but not nicole richie style, I like silk dresses, and most of the time I wear black.
I'm tall and thin and flat chested, so I like empire waist dresses, and I like them long.
And I teach in those :p
I only have one "short" dress, which is 10cm above the knee (but I don't like my calves so I never wear it :p)
Remember to always be yourself, unless you suck
I'm 5'5" (only just) but I'm a bit disproportioned (legs are a bit too long)
which may be one of the reasons why people generally think I'm taller.
Don't wear many dresses or skirts now, but when I was much younger
I sometimes wore them above knee length to knee length. Had one
summer when I bought half a dozen Jackie Kennedy like, sleeveless
summer/cocktail dresses that were all about a hand width above the
knee, something I definitely could not get away with anymore.

Some people on here are much shorter than I would have thought. I guess it is because they post tall.![]()

5'3.5"... I'm one of the ones who now prefer the nice long, ankle length dresses. And yes, I'm much shorter than the size I post as!
They're both proud drunks, they're both proud sluts and they're both proud wearers of thirsty weaves. They both probably think that the other one is swallowing up the entire world's supply of vodka, peen and yellow weaves. Michael K (re Brandi & Chelsea)

5'3 here and I like above the knee. I think it makes me look taller which is probably all in my mind.
