Based on the interview with Letterman when she talks about how she stopped to kiss Tom at the 18 mile marker and then started running again and was "shocked" to hear the guys in front of her say "only 6 more miles," I'm guessing that's actually when she was slipped in, not where she "stopped to take a break".
