And its all about CONTROLLING the press as well. A photo of a worn-out, bleeding-nipple, sweaty Katie Holmes wouldn't play well. They wanted a picture-of-health Katie heroically running the marathon, cheered on by her 'doting' husband Tom.
Besides, if they have the means and ability to fix the situation and she doesn't have to run the marathon, then of course they will go for it.
