^^ From what I understood of the article, the mother put the child up for adoption after seven months had passed because she couldn't afford to support her. If Stewart had been helping to support his baby, maybe she would have kept her. Regardless of whether or not he wanted a kid, he had one, and it was his responsibility to help provide for her. He never met her because he chose not to. That doesn't give him an excuse to be a deadbeat parent.

Now if he didn't know about her and she had been put up for adoption immediately following the birth, that would be a different story. Oh, and just to clear - when I was talking about support, I meant while the mother had the child in her custody, not after the adoption took place.
