He wasn't there to discuss an incident that is old news. The sort of questions he was being asked is why I don't watch mainstream media anymore. And the guy is human- he was probably embarrassed by those events (although Ripa should have been on that incident- I saw that and she did come across as possibly homophobic) and he let himself get a little pissed off.
And that line of questioning from Newsweek seems a little tabloidy.

ITA. He was probably expecting Newsweek to be above gossip and he's probably sick and tired of those type of questions. He was just there to discuss the Broadway thing and his charity work.
