Some more possibilities: David Ogden Stier- Was in MASH, which was a spinoff of the movie of the same name in 1970. In 1999, he was in Love and Money, a short lived series. He has never been married.

Christopher Lloyd- His first series was Taxi. If you read "spin off" as a standalone clue, and not as a clue that his first series was a spinoff, it could mean he spun one of his best known roles into a show, which he did. Back to the Future ran for one season in 1991.
