With Darfur, no one really paid attention to the genocide there until Clooney began banging the drum. Sad, but true. Because of him, HBO heavily promoted its webcast a documentary on Darfur last weekend. A documentary Clooney produced and narrated. If I had produced that documentary, think anyone would have given a damn?

There are lots of ways to make people give a damn. I mean, I knew about Darfur before Clooney opened his overrated mouth and I'm sure other people did too. He doesn't deserve an award. None of these stupid celebs do. They award themselves constantly. We need to stop with the celebrity ego-stroking and start recognizing real people who actually make a difference and don't just show up places for photo ops.
