I understand the point you're making but, as I'm in a pedantic mood, I'd just like to point out that the planet was doing
just fine until man came along. In evolutionary terms we've been here all of 5 minutes. It sure doesn't need us. It's just that we are wired not to be able to conceive of earth without humans
