While she’s been busy judging a beauty contest in Tokyo, Paris Hilton, 26, has found time to spearhead a campaign to stop a herd of elephants from killing themselves - after becoming intoxicated on alcohol.
According to recent press reports, “Paris was horrified to discover 40 of the animals were electrocuted after drinking rice-beer, which is brewed by locals in north-east India.”
Known to be an animal-lover, the hotel heiress is urging Indian residents to keep their alcohol locked up, saying, “There would have been more causalities if the villagers hadn’t chased them away. And four elephants died in a similar way three years ago. It is just so sad.”
Paris, who was spotted at the airport in South Korea today, added, “The biggest problems are in Assam and Meghalaya.
The elephants get drunk all the time. It is becoming really dangerous. We need to stop making alcohol available to them.”
