I always think of the young Joan as gorgeous and calculating. She was so driven. So totally photogenic.

I recommend this book to lovers of the silver screen. It was my bible when I was a kid. Enormous coffee table book with all the great photographers, showing how their makeup was done and the designer's costume sketches.
