That's exactly what I was thinking. I think the worst part about this rumor (and I don't care whether it's true one way or the other - and that aide is hot!) is that a lot of republicans who have been having issues with their own party, and who are on the fence about voting for their own party members given their recent track record with running the US, would probably decide the lesser of the two evils is to vote for war mongers or idiots in their own party rather than a gay female democrat. I think "the gay" may be hard to overcome for some of those "religious" republicans and this could put them squarly back over on the republican side of the voting fence.
