PB - I see what you're saying, but I think that pretending like this is exclusively a problem on threads related to Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, and Brad Pitt is misleading.


I mean, there are almost ALWAYS defenders and haterz who are equally passionate for every celebrity. Even Lindsay and Britney still have die hard defenders after they've both nearly killed people! However, what you DON'T see on those threads are constant references to how 'Lindsay threads always cause fights' or 'maybe we need a moratorium on Britney threads'.


The problem is that it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. Anytime you have posters saying that these threads were fight-heavy in the past, you're going to make it very difficult for posters to distinguish between the past and the present realities. In the last four months, as I said earlier, I have not seen ANY of the diehard Angelina defenders (and yes, I've seen them comment on other blogs, so I know what they act like).


I *have* seen a group of other people who, like me, enjoy making fun of Jennifer Aniston, so naturally, we all kind of click and play off each other. I'm sorry if people perceive that to be exclusionary, we're not trying to say we're the only JA haterz, and none of us spend time fluffing Angie's penis. We just like to make fun of the Aniston chick. It's that simple. Generally, though, we keep Jennifer bashing to threads ABOUT Jennifer. If we go on Brad or Angie threads, we either bash Brad or Angie or grudgingly admit they are a darn good looking couple.

However, when I (and I assume my fellow JA-hataz) see comments specifically about Jennifer-bashers, like the one that Voodoo made, outside of a Jennifer Aniston thread, I get kind of upset. I don't feel like bashing Jennifer is a political position that I've taken on this board, and I don't think it has to be my main and only identity on gossip rocks (even if my tacky avatar suggests that ). Voodoo was nice enough to tell me she wasn't talking about me, but I'm still very clearly a part of that 'group' and there have still been an awful lot of nasty comments wafted my way.

I have tried hard, lately at least, not to make personal comments about Jen defenders or Angie haters. I'm not perfect, I probably have said some ugly things. If so, hey, I APOLOGIZE TO EVERYONE.

I don't think we need to BAN threads on these 3 celebrities. I think all we need to do is remember that Brad and Jennifer are DIVORCED. Jennifer Aniston threads should be about the discussion of Jennifer Aniston, pro and con. Angelina Jolie threads should be about the discussion of Angelina Jolie, pro and con. Brad Pitt threads should be about what a douchey white boy he is. No, just kidding, I'm sure somebody out there likes Brad Pitt.

Point is, if we all try very hard to make keep our opinions about these three in the threads they belong, it will be a lot harder for us to make things PERSONAL. It will be a lot harder for us to make negative remarks about people without naming names or quoting posts. Then at least if people get into fights, it's a small and specific incident, and not bubbling up months of suppressed rage. This is something we can all do, and it's something we can all police *ourselves* on.

Please discuss this proposition, yea or nay.

Oh, and one last thing, I'm a mega-bitch. So if *I'm* trying to make peace here... yikes... Let's all lick some morphine lollipops and trade miniature puppies. <runs off to find my pimpz>
