I disagree, but that isn't really my main point . The point is that these threads are divisive and exclusionary, IMO, NO MATTER WHO IS BEING DEFENDED/ATTACKED. It's always one group of people against another and it always gets personal and nasty. Who needs it? There's room for all kinds of opinions at GR -- not talking about anyone in particular here, so don't anybody get upset -- but these threads are toxic. Calling people names simply because they aren't in lockstep with the opinions of the group that starts a thread and posts in it -- any thread -- is wrong. And especially when that is explicitly stated as a condition, whether it's described as a "joke" or not. It's just not very friendly.
