Possibly, but she's right in that if she doesn't use a pseudonym, critics will be endlessly comparing any new book to HP. I'd hate to be under that pressure if I was a writer. I do enjoy the Harry Potter books regardless of any lack of literary merit. They make great ripping yarns and are fun to share with the kids. As A.S.Byatt (one of my favourite authors) said rather scathingly, "It is written for people whose imaginative lives are confined to TV cartoons, and the exaggerated (more exciting, not threatening) mirror-worlds of soaps, reality TV and celebrity gossip." Hey, nothing wrong with a little celebrity gossip!
