KC- Blacks have quite a bit of clout. It is just as you said, many forget we have it. If blacks came together as a united front, even though outnumbered by latinos as the largest minority group, the numbers indicate blacks still have more pull financially. We even discussed this at length in one of my humanity classes.
Speaking of United fronts, yes, gays will have to look at the civil rights movements and take some cues. Blacks and women had to go through hell to fight for what they wanted. These two groups had no closets to hide in, so they had to march forward with great determination and take every obstacle they met, including death.
As long as fear and the option to hide exists, the gay voice will not be as strong as it could.
