Abdication in favour of William is not going to happen. Charles entire existance is centred on the fact that one day he will be the King. It's almost a 'divine right' and you don't mess with the succession for any reason. That's why Edward VIII's abdication caused such a massive upheaval from which the royal family still hasn't fully recovered. Monarchs don't just 'step aside' for social or personal or popularity reasons. It's their destiny.
