Actually, what black people are saying isn't 'nigger' it's 'niggah.' Different spelling. But while you make a good point, all groups have people in them that refer to each other by slurs.

Some gays guys will call each other fag, I've heard some white people call each other cracker or honky, etc. It may seem inappropriate to do, but sometimes people feel that if they use the words among themselves as a term of endearment, crazy as that sounds, that it negates the negative sting. Whether that's true or not is another story.
