Default Nicole Richie's two faces

"Nicole Ritchie's novel “The Truth About Diamonds” is being released on the market this month.

Every customer entering a book-shop will see displayed side by side the two versions of the cover: Good Nicole and Bad Nicole. Weird, but not new. This is a technique used in the past by other publishers. Pamela Anderson's 2004 novel “Star” was available both with a plain pink cover and with the David LaChapelle photo of 38-year-old Anderson's nude body, strategically covered by a star.

With Pamela Anderson, the strategy was being used partly because the almost nude picture couldn't be displayed by all retailers.
But now, Nicole's publisher, Judith Regan, is counting on the fact that enthusiastic fans will want to have both versions at home. That would mean double the sales. Smart.
A Regan Books insider said that “it's either brilliant marketing or it will create mass confusion.”

“It shows good girl Nicole, bad girl Nicole. Her face has been darkened in one of the photos too. It's not often done in book publishing, so the questions are, will it confuse people or will her brainless fans decide they have to have both covers — that's what I think [publisher] Judith [Regan] is banking on", the insider said."
