I was having a completely brain-dead moment when I responded above.
When I was writing about
single people, I was actually thinking about single people - as in not having been married. D'uh, aabbcc. Sheesh!
As for people who for whatever reason are no longer married, we also use the terms divorcee and widow/er.
Sometimes I think I'm going senile.
