Erm... well... its just that my divorce papers state (in a rather more wordly fashion) that the marriage is finished & that we can re-marry, (& to write a new will - but that's by the by...) but we don't get described as "single people".
To my mind (and I'm quite prepared to admit it's just me!), single people are spinsters & batcherlors; "previously married" are either divorced or widowed - depending what you did to your spouce....

Yeah, just ignore me, it is just me as I'm a "all experiences (good & bad) make me the person I am" and a marriage that produced a couple of children should be seen as just that.
Mind, you guys might think that being a spinster brings up images of old ladies in yellowing wedding dresses a la Miss Haversham....
