Anyway, while I do not agree with Mr. Baldwin's theology in all areas, overall at least he is off of drugs, doing something positive and helping keep other kids off of drugs and doing right.
I agree completely, Delphinium. While Baldwin does indeed come off like a "Jesus Psycho" (as he himself describes himself), or maybe just a plain psycho, the bottom line is (like you said) he IS doing something that, when it really comes downs to it, IS positive. He is helping teenagers & young adults dedicate themselves & their time to something other than partying, drugs, promiscuous sex, other debaucherous acts, and generally living like hedonistic as*holes with no morals--which is how so many of the young people in this country unfortunately live their lives. So many young people live directionless, debaucherous, destructive, reckless lives, with no real goals/direction or sense of purpose in life & no values. At the very least, Stephen Baldwin can be commended for having kept even one young person from living a destructive drug-filled life.--And it appears that he's actually helped MANY young people avoid that kind of life. So, i give Baldwin kudos for that. While the man's a "stupidly blathering" (love that thread title!) wacko, at least he's a blathering wacko who's managed to do some good, albeit through means that DO seem rather odd.

And i definitely disagree with a lot of what he said: A) In my opinion (and i am a Christian), he seems to be taking his religious beliefs TOO far & taking the Bible perhaps a bit too literally--but that's just my personal opinion; and B) He says some REALLY STUPID things, things that go AGAINST the teachings of Christianity. (As MgMMD mentions below--)

Exactly, MgMMD. That's the part of the article that bothers me the most. He's dissing Bono for HELPING POVERTY-STRICKEN PEOPLE???!!?? WTF??!!?? That part of Baldwin's thinking is seriously messed-up, and is why, despite how i discussed above that i think Baldwin IS overall doing SOME good (again, helping to give young people a positive purpose/direction in life is a wonderful thing), he does NOT earn my FULL respect. The guy IS indeed a raving "psycho", as evidenced by talk like that (and especially with his comment about "breaking someone's face" or whatever!) which totally goes AGAINST the peace-loving, "help the less fortunate" teachings of Christianity. But, then again, like Delphinium pointed out, the article was VERY obviously written with some SERIOUS bias & negativity, so who knows what was taken out of context or whatever to prove the author's point & to make Baldwin look as crazy as possible.
