Just a point about getting iron and protien from vegetables. You have to have a supplement item to help break it down. While thoes protiens are better for you they are harder for your body to extract them. You must ALWAYS have Vitamin C with any fruit/grain based protien.

In my opinion it is the Iron in most Protiens that is the effective component when it comes to building muscle. While protein will make you feel full for longer it is Iron that carries the oxygen around to your muscles, thus helping your muscles recover from exercise faster, giving you heart a break, making cardio exercise more effective, giving you more energy.

Alot of thoes high protien diests forget about Iron completely. Mainly because most people assume that because they eat red meat they are getting it, however the body doesnt digest red meat's iron that well at all. Infact the only animal based iron/protien that the body can really digest well and break it down easily is fish. Which is why the japanese/chinese lifestyle is so good for you. Salmon is like having a steak, only much better for you.

Handy hints from your local vege(fin)tarian.
The iron in spinach is very difficult to access as well.
